How to Install and Configure Jenkins on AlmaLinux 10

To install Jenkins on AlmaLinux 10, follow the steps below.

Step 1 : Update the system

sudo dnf update -y

Step 2 : Install OpenJDK

sudo dnf install java-21-openjdk -y

Step 3 : Add the Jenkins repository

sudo wget -O /etc/yum.repos.d/jenkins.repo \
    https://pkg.jenkins.io/redhat-stable/jenkins.repo

Step 4 : Install Jenkins

sudo dnf install jenkins -y

Step 5 : Start Jenkins

sudo systemctl start jenkins

Step 6 : Enable Jenkins on boot

sudo systemctl enable jenkins

Step 7 : Check Jenkins status

sudo systemctl status jenkins

Step 8 : Configure firewall

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=8080/tcp
sudo firewall-cmd --reload

Step 9 : View the initial admin password

sudo cat /var/lib/jenkins/secrets/initialAdminPassword

Step 10 : Open your browser and go to:

http://your_server_ip:8080

- Log in using the initial admin password

- Choose Install suggested plugins.

- Wait for installation to complete

- Create the first admin user

- Configure Jenkins URL

- Click Start using Jenkins.
